Adult ADHD & Overwhelm

You’re not lazy. You’re exhausted from working so hard to keep up.

Maybe you’ve always been capable—good at your job, responsible, the person other people depend on. But behind the scenes, everyday life can feel surprisingly hard.

You procrastinate until the pressure kicks in. You lose track of time. You start five things and finish none of them. Your brain feels like it has 27 tabs open at once. You make lists, buy planners, create systems—and then wonder why you can’t seem to stick with any of them.

And when you are getting everything done, it may come at the expense of yourself.

For many women, ADHD doesn't look like what they expected. It can show up as overwhelm, perfectionism, anxiety, emotional sensitivity, overthinking, difficulty starting tasks, inconsistent motivation, or feeling like you're constantly trying to catch up.

Therapy can help you understand the way your brain works, let go of some of the shame and self-criticism you've accumulated along the way, and build practical strategies that actually fit your life.

The goal isn't to make you better at forcing yourself to function like everyone else. It's to help you find ways of doing life that work better for you.

Is This Right for Me?

Adult ADHD & Overwhelm may be a good fit if you’re looking for ongoing therapy—not a quick fix or a one-time action plan.

We’ll typically meet for 50–60 minutes weekly, especially when we’re first getting started. As you make progress, we may decide together that meeting every other week makes more sense.

Our sessions give us room to look at the bigger picture—not just productivity or organization, but how ADHD may intersect with anxiety, relationships, emotional regulation, self-esteem, perfectionism, motivation, and the expectations you’ve carried for yourself.

Some weeks we'll dig into patterns and where they come from. Other weeks we may troubleshoot something very practical that's happening in your life. Often, we'll do both.

Is Adult ADHD & Overwhelm Right for Me?

This may be a good fit if you find yourself thinking:

I know what I need to do. Why can’t I just do it?

You may struggle with getting started, following through, managing time, staying organized, maintaining routines, remembering the things you intended to do, or regulating your attention and emotions. You might be incredibly productive when something is interesting or urgent—and completely stuck when it isn't.

Maybe you've spent years creating new systems, buying planners, setting reminders, or promising yourself that this time you'll stay on top of things. When those systems don't last, it's easy to assume the problem is motivation, discipline, or something about you.

Our work focuses on understanding how your brain works, reducing the shame and self-criticism that may have accumulated over the years, and developing strategies that fit the way you actually function.

How is this different from Perfectionism & Anxiety?

There's plenty of overlap—and you may recognize yourself in both.

The simplest distinction is this:

ADHD & Overwhelm:“I know what I need to do. Why can't I consistently do it?”

Perfectionism & Anxiety:“I'm doing everything. Why does it still never feel like enough?”

With ADHD, we'll spend more time understanding executive functioning, motivation, attention, time, routines, task initiation, follow-through, and emotional regulation.

If you're generally able to get things done but your mind won't let you relax, make a mistake, disappoint someone, or believe you've done enough, Perfectionism & Anxiety may describe your experience more closely.

What does it cost?

Unlike my focused Reset services, this is psychotherapy and may be covered by your health insurance. I am in-network with a number of insurance plans, and your individual cost will depend on your specific benefits, deductible, and copay/coinsurance.

Private-pay therapy is also available.

You don't need to know exactly what you want to work on before you start. We can figure that out together.
